From Rags to Riches: An Authors Point of View

All my life, I have had a creative mindset. When I got older, I start writing a lot especially when my dad passed away. To anchor my hurt and frustrations I begin journaling about everything. I decided that I wanted to take the things I was writing and publish it which in turn began my life as an Author. After the first book was published, I had already had my daughter who has multiple disabilities. What the doctors said versus what God said was different and I wanted to tell her story as well. With each writing each became published books. I found that writing was my peace time and time again. I became an Indie Author, but what I didn’t know was that being an Indie Author came with a lot of marketing and the most important is spell check. Whew, no one mentioned that one to me. By the time I figured out how important those things was I was already past my 5th book. A Lifetime of Love was not my Indie book because I paid to have my book published but there was still errors, so I had to stop being so hard on myself. I didn’t realize that what you wrote is what was going onto paper into your book until last year when I could hear God say, come on let’s make this your career. As time went by in 2022, I began learning a lot about writing, getting an editor, hiring a graphic designer for my book cover and the best yet, DISTRIBUTION. It’s like a great light bulb clicked in my head to say, these things are important to be successful as an Author, someone should have told me that 14 years ago but once again here I am.
